Implementing an inclusive European Open Science Cloud
The European Open Science Cloud has finally entered its highly-anticipated implementation phase. The EOSC Symposium 2021 provided a key engagement opportunity for the EOSC community.
The foundation of the EOSC Association in 2020 was a fundamental step towards the implementation phase (2021-2027). At the same time, a plethora of EU, regionally and nationally funded research projects have been carrying out activities, and actually producing key exploitable results which can contribute to this new phase.
The Symposium also offered an inclusive platform for all stakeholders to share objectives, visions, activities and results in order to shape the future of the EOSC, and EOSC-Pillar contributed to this year's extremely successful edition.
15 June - Policies round table
A multitude of projects operating around the sphere of EOSC are undertaking a consultation process leading to the exchange of ideas and recommendations on how the federation under the EOSC could be seamlessly facilitated. In this context it is highly emphasised the identification and alleviation of policy barriers, and moreover the incentivisation of researchers and future EOSC stakeholders/communities to adopt indicated national, European and institutional policies that will assist the harmonization of different initiatives towards an Open Science future.
EOSC-Pillar took part in this all-female panel, represented by Caterina Sganga, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, who took part in a lively discussion on Open Science Policies practice in EOSC regional projects.
18 June - Implementation of EOSC - EOSC Readiness indicators
EOSC-Pillar participated in one of the breakout sessions dedicated to the Implementation of EOSC, as a key member of the INFRAEOSC-5 Landscaping Task Force, to introduce the latest updates on the dashboard for EOSC-readiness indicators. This idea emerged from the previous landscape analysis carried out in different European countries, which highlighted the need for a tool that could be updated more easily and based on a common approach.
The EOSC Symposium hosted a panel discussion chaired by Federica Tanlongo, GARR & EOSC-Pillar WP4 leader, to involve the EOSC community in this journey and gather feedback towards the release of the living dashboard with the EOSC readiness indicators.

EOSC-Pillar final report - Building an EOSC from national contributions
The EOSC-Pillar third and final annual report is now available on Zenodo, wrapping up 42 months of collaboration by taking a look back at our Final Conference, held in Paris in October 2022, and reflecting on our main contributions to the development and implementation of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) across Austria, Belgium, France, Germany and Italy.

EMM Survey Registry wins the French Open Science - Open Data award
We are proud to announce that the Ethnic and Migrant Minorities (EMM) Survey Registry, one of the thematic services supported by EOSC-Pillar, has been awarded one of the Open Science - Open Data prizes, granted by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
